8 Things Not To Miss In Berlin, Germany

Easy get around Berlin with the handy metro!

The capital of Germany, Berlin home to some of Germany’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Brandenburg Gate and Charlottenburg Palace.

Berlin has a rich place in Germany’s history and is both a diverse and exciting city to explore.

One of many reasons why it’s an all-time fave of mine? Berlin has an awesome selection of excellent beer and food you really need to try! Deffo not be missed!

Grab a Bird’s Eye View of Berlin

Standing in East Berlin (before the Berlin wall you couldn’t visit!) it is the tallest building in the city and gives you one hell of a view on a clear day!

Explore the 360-degree view from the tower’s observation deck, however, if want to save money, then I recommend you stay away from both the bar and the restaurant as they are very pricey!

Key Info: Tickets can be bought on the Fernsehturm website. This way you can also fast track the queues, for just a few euros more.

Take in the history at DDR Museum

This small, quirky museum located on the corner of the infamous Checkpoint Charlie chronicles the daily lives of people living in communist East Berlin.

And for only €8.50 it’s a bargain!

It really should be on your list of things not to miss in Berlin, Germany!

Top Tip: If you want an even cheaper ticket, order one from DDR Museum website for only €4.50.

Eat Currywurst! Lots & lots of Currywurst!

Might not look too good but its a must try!!

You will see this snack advertised throughout the city of Berlin, in fact any city in Germany!

It’s world famous but if you’re not sure what it is?

It’s Germany’s world famous sausages mixed with curry!

Sound good aye?

Well, it definitely is, so if you’re hungry and come across a shop selling Currywurst definitely try some!

Don’t miss out when visiting Berlin, Germany!

IAmDanElson Tip: Currywurst is served all over, but it can vary between vendors. If you don’t enjoy it the first time around, try it from somewhere else too!

Drink All The Beer!

Beer, beer & beer!

Germany really does have some of the very best in the world, well worth trying German beer and the best way to drink it is in a stein!

If you find a beer hall in Berlin too, then head on in. Not to be missed!

Often beer halls have live German music, so a super large beer and free tunes – why not?!

IAmDanElson Tip: Definitely make sure you sample a Berlin wheat beer while you’re at it!

FREEBIE ALERT: Free Walking Tour!

This is a must for everyone who visits Berlin! Don’t miss this!

Not just for history buffs like myself, but its a great free activity for everyone who wants to know a little bit more about Berlin’s heritage and its famous buildings.

Running 3 times a day, it’s a 2.5 hour walking tour, so ensure you’ve got comfortable trainers on.

Visit the walking tour website and book on early as it gets rather full! I attended during the week and there were so many of us we were put into two large groups!

Brandenburg Gate at Night

A must see during the day & night!

You may have seen the Brandenburg Gate on the free walking tour, but it’s also a sight you need to see once it gets dark!

Grab your camera and get a snap of this amazing, world famous building when it’s all lit up.

IAmDanElson Tip: The metro is located really close to the Brandenburg Gate, so it’s easy to get to even if it’s late at night!

Jewish Memorial

Berlin’s past can be tough to stomach, but it’s important to understand just what happened, not least to ensure this sort of tragedy doesn’t happen ever, EVER again.

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe was opened in 2015 and is made up of 2,711 concrete columns, of all different sizes, that form a maze-like memorial.

It’s an interesting sight and open 24 hours, 7 days a week, so you can check it out both during the day or at night.

Grab a Bite to Eat at White Trash

What yummy goodness will you choose?!

Love rock music as much as me?

Love burgers and fries as much as me?

Then you’re in the right place!

Berlin is filled with these two combos, especially awesome at White Trash Fast Food restaurant.

This little gem has been running since 2000 and that just tells you what an awesome little place this is! A must visit in Berlin!

IAmDanElson Tip: It does tend to get rather busy at weekends so always reserve a table beforehand and you won’t be disappointed!

Thanks for reading! When will you tick off Berlin from your bucket list?!
